"This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!" (2 Cor. 5:17 NLT)

"For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. In those days when you pray, I will listen. If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me. I will be found by you,” says the Lord. “I will end your captivity and restore your fortunes. I will gather you out of the nations where I sent you and will bring you home again to your own land.” (Jeremiah 29:11-14 NLT)

Faith + Nothing

Republished with permission from fellow Living Faith Baptist Church member, Josh Stone.
(Thank you, Josh, for allowing me to share this!)

Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. -Romans 4:4,5

Understand this! God does not, nor ever will owe us anything! That's exactly what most people think when they add to faith+nothing. When you believe that you can do this, or do that for your salvation, that means that once you have done that which you believe is required then God owes you salvation. That cannot be! Salvation is a gift (Ephesians 2:8). You don't earn gifts. They are freely given. I guess that it's just human nature as to why people cannot comprehend faith+nothing. You will probably read about this same topic from me over and over. Why? Because it is crucial that you understand Salvation is all about Him and nothing about us. The Apostle Paul was dealing with this same problem in his missions. The Judaisers were going around and adding to faith+nothing. They were claiming that circumcision and law-keeping must be added to faith. Here's the concerning part. Paul explains in Galatians 5, that if they were to add to Grace, then Christ would profit them nothing. In other words, if you think that you have to add to Christ's finished work on the cross, then you have just cancelled out Grace entirely! It must be fully Grace, or it's nothing at all! It's so simple that our human minds can't comprehend it! At the same time, it's so deep that our human minds can't comprehend it. Surely, His thoughts are higher than our thoughts. Faith- taking God at His Word, plus nothing!
