"This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!" (2 Cor. 5:17 NLT)

"For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. In those days when you pray, I will listen. If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me. I will be found by you,” says the Lord. “I will end your captivity and restore your fortunes. I will gather you out of the nations where I sent you and will bring you home again to your own land.” (Jeremiah 29:11-14 NLT)

Be an Overcomer Through Faith

Life is often full of obstacles. Are you going to overcome your obstacles? Or are you going to let your obstacles overcome you? It is when we are challenged, fearful, hurting and in need that we begin to understand the power of faith as the tool for overcoming life’s obstacles.

The scriptural definition of faith is, “being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see” (Hebrews 11:1). We are further told in scripture, “if you have the faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.” Faith is the key to overcoming obstacles. There is no obstacle that cannot be overcome by the power of faith in God. Romans 8:31, "...If God is for us, who can ever be against us?"

We have promise in God’s word that our faith will give us the resources we need to manage any trouble or difficulty that might come up in our lives.

FAITH HELPS US TO OVERCOME!

--Faith overcomes unbelief - Ephesians 3:20, "Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think."

--Faith overcomes temptation - 1 Corinthians 10:13, "The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He with not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure." 1 John 4:4, "But you belong to God, my dear children. You have already won a victory over those people, because the Spirit which lives in your is greater than the spirit who lives in the world."

--Faith emboldens us - 2 Timothy 1:7, "For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love and self-discipline."

--Faith strengthens us - Romans 5:1-3, "Therefore, since we have been made right in God's sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. Because of our faith, Christ has brought us into this place of undeserved privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to sharing God's glory. We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trails, for we know that they help us develop endurance." James 1:2-3, "Dear brothers and sisters, when trouble comes you way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when you faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow."

--Faith overcomes fear - John 14:1, “Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me.” Isaiah 41:10, “Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.”

THE ENEMY EXPLOITS OUR WEAKNESS

The enemy knows when our faith is weak and those are the moments in which he plans his attacks. Don’t give Satan a foothold by giving into fear. When fearful thoughts arise, “We are to demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ”, 2 Corinthians 10:5.

BE AN OVERCOMER!

The only thing holding you back is your decision to move forward – an act of your will!

Remember, sometimes God gives us obstacles in life to test our faith and see whether we will continue to stay on the path He has for us. Sometimes God uses something Satan came to destroy and turns it into a blessing. Will you let your obstacle overcome you and allow the enemy to ruin the good things in your life? Or will you use the power of the Lord and faith to overcome and come out on the other side with more blessings than you can count from the experience?

Use your will, your faith, and your trust in the Lord and get moving forward in the right direction! Don’t be afraid, be an ‘overcomer’!
